D-DAY FESTIVAL NORMANDY 2012

Kein “richtiges” Festival, aber wer´s mag, kann da ja mal hinfahren….
For the 68th Anniversary of the Allied Landings, D-DAY Festival Normandy 2012 is the opportunity for locals and visitors alike to celebrate Freedom. For the 6th edition of the festival, major events will be organised in the mythical D-Day Beaches sector. Free and open to all!

On 6th June 1944, the area of Bayeux and Bessin became the scene of the most gigantic military operation in History. Each year in Normandy, D-DAY Festival Normandy is a joyful event that commemorates the Landing of the Allies and the Battle of Normandy.

Created in 2007 by the Tourist Office of Bayeux Intercom, D-DAY Festival Normandy offers a selection of key festive events across the whole area of the mythical D-Day beaches: from Arromanches to Sainte-Mère-Eglise, in Longues-sur-Mer, Bayeux, Tilly-sur-Seulles, Omaha Beach and Carentan.

Two major events are organised in the Bayeux Intercom area: on 5th June, at 11pm, the musical fireworks display “The night they arrived” will take place on the symbolic site of the Battery of Longues-sur-Mer; on 7th June at 7pm, in Bayeux – first town to be liberated in France – the traditional “Liberation Ball” will be organised on the town square “place de Gaulle”.

The objective of the festival is to offer visitors a complete “D-Day week-end” and to maintain at a very high level the number of visitors generated by the themes “D-Day landings” and “Battle of Normandy”.
